Affinity Estimation for Agile Teams
Estimate large backlogs in minutes by grouping stories by relative complexity.
How it works
Arrange stories by relative size
Convert to XS-XL buckets instantly
Export your estimates
What is Affinity Estimation?
Affinity estimation is an agile technique where teams quickly sort stories relative to each other, instead of estimating them one by one.
Itβs faster than Planning Poker and works especially well for large backlogs.
First you arrange the stories by relative complexity - from smallest to largest.
Then you automatically group them into size buckets - from XS to XL. You can also manually adjust the buckets if needed.
Why Use Affinity Estimation?
Affinity Estimation vs. Planning Poker
Affinity Estimation | Planning Poker |
---|---|
Faster; good for big backlogs; less discussion-heavy. | More precise; better for small/medium batches; more discussion. |
For most teams - particularly smaller teams - Affinity Estimation is often a better choice than Planning Poker. Give it a try today!

Affinity Estimation FAQs
How does affinity estimation differ from Planning Poker?
Affinity estimation focuses on relative sorting of stories into buckets all at once, while Planning Poker estimates each story individually using consensus on numeric points.
How many stories can I estimate at once?
Dozens to hundreds β it scales well because the team works in parallel.
Can I use Affinity Estimation with remote teams?
Yes. Sprint Shuffle supports real-time collaboration and async workflows.
Does Sprint Shuffle integrate with Jira?
Jira integration is on our roadmap. In the meantime, you can export and import via CSV.
